Red Barn Letterpress started in 2013 as Saint James Workshop in Brooklyn, NY.  In 2015 we moved upstate, into (you guessed it) a red barn in beautiful Columbia County, NY and became Red Barn Letterpress.

Our current project is the design and production of a cyanotype printed artist book by David Sokosh, in a limited edition of 50, titled: Things that look like the MOON (but are not the moon). In addition we produce letterpress greeting cards, invitations, calendar and limited edition letterpress books.

Owner David Sokosh prints each of the 250 card designs he offers on three vintage printing presses:
A Golding Pearl from the early 20th Century and two Kelsey Excelsior models from the 1930’s.
Using printing blocks dating from 1900 - 1970, Sokosh creates contmporary cards, sometimes irreverent, often ironic and always heartfelt.
They are priced at $5.00 each. Mix and match the designs and order as many as you like. Shipping in the US is a flat $7.50 for up to twenty cards.  Each comes with a matching or contrasting envelope (as shown) and is protected by a clear sleeve.

Red Barn Letterpress cards are available exclusively through this website, at Hudson Clothier, Hudson, NY and in person at events we attend throughout the year (see you in person after Covid)..

The white, 100% rag, printing stock and envelopes are supplied by the Reich Paper Company of Brooklyn, NY .
The colored papers and envelopes are from the French Paper Company of Niles, Michigan.
The cards are blank inside. They measure 4 1/2 x 6”. They are branded, either in ink or blind embossing, on the lower back: “Red Barn Letterpress Claverack, New York”.
